Calvary Chapel Davis

About Us

Tim and Linda Brock

Welcome to Calvary Chapel of Davis. We are a Bible believing fellowship in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Our supreme desire is to know Christ and be conformed into His image by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are not a denominational church, nor are we opposed to denominations as such, only to their overemphasis of the doctrinal differences that have led to the division of the body of Christ. We were established to worship, glorify, and to share the good news of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

The Calvary Chapel Story

The fellowship of believers now known as "Calvary Chapel" began in the late 1960's in one small, nondenominational church. Pastor Chuck Smith, who'd spent 17 years pastoring various churches throughout California and Arizona, became the pastor of a church in Costa Mesa, California which called itself "Calvary Chapel."

Through his many years of pastoring, Pastor Chuck became convinced that a new approach to ministry was needed. Rather than preaching an evangelistic message every Sunday, he began to teach verse-by-verse through the Word of God, starting at Genesis and working his way through to Revelation.

Within two years, the small church in Costa Mesa had grown so dramatically that there was no longer room in the church to hold all the members. About, the same time, Pastor Chuck's wife, Kay, began to feel that they needed to reach out to the "hippies" of that era.

Chuck and Kay eventually made the decision to open their home and their church to these young people, teaching the revelation of God's love for them through the sacrificial death of His Son, Jesus.

Pastor Chuck became the founder of what was is now referred to as the "Jesus Movement", witnessing God's miraculous power as the Lord dramatically transformed the lives of these young people. The Calvary Chapel saga had begun.

Today, the original Calvary Chapel church in Costa Mesa, CA is home to over 30,000 believers. In addition, there are over 1,000 Calvary Chapel "affiliates churches" that have been planted throughout America and around the world.

Calvary Chapel of Davis

After almost 25 years spent in wonderful fellowship with several Calvary Chapels, in 1999 the Lord called Tim Brock with an overwhelming leading into the pastoral ministry.

The foundations of Calvary Chapel of Davis were laid in prayer. Pastor Greg Brock of Calvary Chapel of Dixon asked his brother Tim and his wife Linda to pray about planting a Calvary Chapel in Davis. Tim and Linda prayed for about a year before the Lord led them to Davis. Tim was ordained in 2001 by Pastor Bill Manley of Calvary Chapel of Shasta Lake, CA.

After consulting with other Calvary Chapel Pastors in the area, Pastor Tim and Linda began Sunday morning services on September 2, 2001 in a rented room at the public library in Davis. In the spring of 2002, Calvary Chapel moved its Sunday service a City of Davis facility located at 3rd and B Street. In early 2006, services were moved to the Lutheran Ministry Center located on the southwest corner of Covell Ave. and Oak St.

Pastor Tim's passion is to make our fellowship the best fed sheep with the Word of God and best loved people in Davis. His goal is to teach the fellowship Gods truth in a practical, down to earth, and relevant way that will cause them to grow in their relationship with God and bring forth much fruit for His glory.
